CASFOS Burnihat Mourns the Demise of Alumna Aloki Devi

A solemn congregation of staff and officer trainees was convened in Central lawn of CASFOS Burnihat to observe two minutes of silence, marking the solemn occasion of mourning the tragic loss of alumna Aloki Devi. As an Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) and an unwavering wildlife custodian within Rajaji tiger reserve, her life encountered an unexpected twist during a routine electric vehicle trial, casting a shadow over her dedicated service. 

During the course director L C Bandana's address, there was a gentle urging for those present to savor life's fleeting moments, acknowledging its brevity and unpredictability. It was a heartfelt plea to find joy in the simplicity of each day, understanding the impermanence of existence. L C Bandana Ma'am eloquently implored all present to traverse the intricate tapestry of life with an unwavering resolve, profound empathy, and an enduring dedication to the noble causes that resonate deeply within our hearts. She encouraged to approach one another with empathy, recognizing the shared vulnerability that binds us all.

Rahman Sir, reflecting on Aloki Devi's journey from an Officer Trainee to her recent promotion, paid tribute to her dedication to wildlife conservation. Her nomination and anticipation for a one-week refresher course at CASFOS Burnihat were finalized, however, due to unforeseen circumstances, she was unable to make the journey to Burnihat.

As fate would have it, the very day the course commenced became the backdrop for a tragedy that would alter the course of many lives. The electric vehicle crash, claiming lives and leaving others injured, unfolded on the day Aloki Devi was meant to join her colleagues for the training. A cruel twist of destiny unfolded, turning what should have been a routine day of professional growth into a day marked by sorrow and loss. The juxtaposition of her intended participation in the course and the unfortunate turn of events highlights the fragile balance we navigate in our daily lives.

As we mourn the loss of Aloki Devi, let her story be a poignant reminder to embrace each moment, recognizing that life's journey is fraught with unforeseen twists.

Today, in the first stop of our Central-North India tour, we got the opportunity to interact with the higher officials of the Bihar Forest Department. This is our third study tour of India. Before this, we have done other states of Assam, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand, Sikkim etc. During our last visit to Eastern India, the way, Jharkhand Forest Department took care of us, it was unforgettable. By the way, it is a very good tradition of Forest Department that even if you go to any corner of the country, being an officer of Forest Department, you will be greeted warmly, but still, if you get better treatment than expected at some places, you will definitely feel very happy.
